I'M GOING TO SEE DEPECHE MODE TONIGHT, BITCHES!
Haven't been to a show in ages, so I'm pretty stoked. Anyone seen them on the US leg of this tour? Impressions?

They canceled Brazil...
saw them a few weeks back in Toronto...
i LOVE DM and have seen them 7 times and i have to say this was the only time i left feeling thoroughly underwhelmed.
they played 7 songs from the new album (which i really despise) so that really killed a lot of their set for me. Dave's voice on that night also seemed very "nasally" if that is a word.
although the very last song was a simple duet of Waiting for the night to Fall which was just spectacular. and funnily enough a very kick ass version of I feel You which was also very good.
give us your review when you get back Tom.
Will do. They weren't very good last time I saw them (Dave was sick and Fletch was audibly screwing up quite a bit), but every band has bad nights.
you fucker
Let us know how it goes... Haven't seen them since Violator... Jeez I'm getting old... hehe
Just got the tickets for the Dallas show in the end of August. Last time experienced them nearly a decade ago in Eastern Europe...pretty stoked too!
It was kind of a mixed bag for me. The mix was terrible, and the venue sound was so bad that Gahan sung the entire first verse of Hole to Feed in the wrong key without realizing it at first. Kind of a lowkey set. Definitely not the same high energy show they put on back in the 80's, but with all of them approaching 50, it wouldn't be reasonable to expect them to.
jealous
yeah the mix in Toronto was bad too. waaay too much drums and guitar and the synth lines were barely audible.
anything that really blew you away?
They sounded great during the first 3 songs, but were pretty hit or miss after that. The guitar drowned out everything, though, so the electronics were pretty hard to hear for most of the set.
I see they just canceled more shows due to Dave's health...
I saw them in DC, and since it was my first time, I enjoyed it. I would have preferred less from the new album as well, but I was happy to hear It's No Good and the old stuff.
DC was a good show, though the energy waned at times. I've seen DM on almost every tour since Some Great Reward, so I can compare with the other shows. I still rate Black Celebration as the best DM show ever. Violator sounded just like the album (I'd rather it feel live) and Ultra was full of audio issues. I still wish I'd not missed Playing the Angel, though. Music For The Masses had the most bizarre opener, and we all love our first DM show, right?
