Hollow Sun to Release Sampled Polymoog "Vox Humana"
The Moog Polymoog was hardly one of the shining stars of the Moog line-up. As a synthesizer, it simply wasn't all that exciting, although its presets have a certain vintage charm to them. Despite this, it has probably been heard by a lot more people than many more highly-regarded synths. That's because new waver Gary Numan made abundant use of the Polymoog's "Vox Humana" preset throughout his early career, most notably on his best known hit, "Cars" which has officially been heard by everyone by now.
Turns out sample developers Hollow Sun are getting set to release a sample set of this very famous sound within the next week or so. Just thought I'd mention that here since I know we have quite a few Numan fans here. In the meantime, Hollow Sun has made available a free sample pack of a couple other Polymoog string presets to get you hooked. The free samples are avilable in Alesis Fusion, Akai S5/6000, and Kontakt 3 formats (seems like a bizarre selection of formats to me, but hey, it's free!). (Thanks to alert reader Rod for the tip!)
GO GET THEM!
