Flashback Friday: Monday Edition
I found this little gem on a political blog I read of all places. I've never heard of Silent Circle, and there's nothing especially memorable about the music, but holy crap their singer has some of the most 80's-tastic hair I've ever seen. I wonder how many cans of Aquanet it took to make it do that? You can spot some Simmons drums and a PPG 2.3 in there too.

I've been trying to come up with something witty or relevant and all I really got is just...
wow..
OMG!
Silent Circle were huge here in Russia and in their homeland, Germany, around 1986. I remember dancing to their Stop the Rain In the Night at a school disco :) Those were the days!
I'm so doing that to my hair. It's coming back you know, big hair and all. Just you wait.
~w~
Love the terry cloth wristbands on keyboard player Mulletino Cheezstashovish.
I think the drummer's set up takes the case - he's standing between two sets of pads, and has to keep dancing back and forth to reach them both. Could there be a worse set up?
Silent Circle had a single "I'm Your Believer" which got a bit of airplay in the San Francisco Bay Area. It wasn't until 20 years later that a friend pointed out to me the obvious religious theme of the song. I get the impression Silent Circle is the Italo Disco version of Stryper...
The singer DOES kind of have television evangelist hair...
The electronic drum pads are not Simmons. Simmons drum pads are hexagonal. These are pentagonal. Most probably they are Dinacord ones, like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFEu9ymDhD0
Seems they had whole lotta drums to bang, I can't even recognize what make they use in this video

Good eye, Anonymous! Every time I see something with that vague shape, I always assume it's Simmons because of how common they were..
So THAT's the brand my Rock Band avatar has been banging on...
Rico, could there be a BETTER set up? Hahah? The only missing is leg warmers.
Oh, and Gary Glitter called... he wants his wig back.
