Ah, What the Hell...



Okay, this has been all over a ton of cooler blogs than mine, but on the off chance you haven't seen it, this guy does an amazing cover of some of the famous music Vangelis did for the classic sci-fi film "Blade Runner". I'm posting this mainly because it demonstrates how underrated the Ensoniq ESQ-1, which rarely goes for more than $150 or so these days, is.(That would be the ESQ-1 he is playing to replicate the brassy leads Vangelis actually did on the gigantic Yamaha CS-80 synth. Pretty convincing, if you ask me!)

That is pretty impressive. The ESQ-1 as well as the other early Ensoniq gear (Mirage and EPS) are all rather underrated. Ensoniq gear really delivered the "best bang for the buck" back in the mid to late 80's. We (Any Questions?) used them extensively in our early recordings.
