Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital this afternoon not breathing and some sites are reporting that he could not be revived.
UPDATE: Guess I can change that question mark to a period. It's been confirmed and officially announced now that Jackson is dead. Say what you will about his bizarre private life (the blame for which I think rests mostly on his parents' shoulders), but the guy was an insanely talented singer and performer. Now for the inevitable flood of Michael Jackson jokes...

Thriller sold 50 million copies. Say what you want about the man's flaws, he was a true icon, a legend. he made MTV solvent, he demolished the color barrier.
Poor sad bastard.
When i was a kid, in like grade 5, all i wanted that Christmas was a red leather jacket covered in zippers. i practiced the moonwalk (never did learn how to do it) and all the moves. Michael was a God.
For me,and i think a lot of people, the King sort of fizzled with the era that ended with Bad.
Sad to see a black genius turn into an ugly white woman.
Nonetheless- hope he is in a place of peace now...

This hit me in a weirder way that I had imagined. Mainly because when I was growing up you had all these iconic things of the 80's and the red zipper jacket and moonwalking were just a couple of them. Now I'm even somewhat belated in making music, but a legend like this dying just gave sort of a reality check on things.
He went the way of so many great artists.
Huge talent, effected the masses deeply, controversial private life, out with no warning.
Elvis, Liberace, Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain, Lennon, Randy Rhoads.
