Synth player in my band had one of the "Ninja" edition.
I was surprised with how crappy it was. Yes, it's a SID chip in a box. It was also crazy noisy, randomly triggered notes now and then, and was generally more of a novelty than anything else.
Perhaps he just had a bad unit, but I found it to be a case of hype. He ditched it after 60 days or so.
He now uses the QuadraSID plug-in and likes it much better.
