If you're into virtual instruments, but wish for something more hands-on, the Neko is basically a marriage of hardware and software. Essentially it's a computer housed in a keyboard for running softsynths.

I know some people swear by this beastie, but it seems like the loss of flexibility to upgrade/replace the separate components easily would negate the value.
The specs seem pretty good on it, but you're right, it strikes me as one of those products that might have a short shelf life given how quickly plu-in requirements change.
how often do y'all change your computer?
I probably replace my machine every two years, and put something new in it (usually hard drive or memory) at least every 6 months. That, plus the threat of incompatibility between OS updates and older hardware are the basis of my skepticism.
Well if you have a duo 2.5ghz 4GB of ram and 1-2TB of HD, how quickly will that be outdated? Then when it is just get an upgrade, you can buy the XXL with the i7 processor in it, it aint cheap but I suppose treating your computer box like a revolving door aint either.
