Complex Releases Free Soundbank for Madrona Labs Aalto

Complex have released a free soundset (donations accepted) for Madrona Labs' amazing Aalto soft synth called "Musicbox".  Here's what they have to say about it:

"It was a great fun do this soundset because Aalto is a unpredictable and powerful instrument.
Sometimes I was having in mind one concrete sound, but patching one cable to the wrong place have unexpected and surprising effects!
Due to the architecture of this synth I decided to do a section of Machines and a section of Sounds, these to sections are very random and unpredictable.
The section of Percussions is full of Buchla like sounds, very innovative drums here.
This soundset have my personal revolutionary taste, I use this sounds in my music and sound designs.
The soundset contains 83 patches with machines, random sounds, percussions and keyboads.
It is divided un four sections:
Machines with 20 patches.
Sounds with 27 patches.
Percussions with 19 patches.
Keys with 17 patches."

Free u-he Tyrell Nexus 6 Bank

KVR user Filter303 uploaded a bank of free patches for u-he's cool (and also free)  Tyrell Nexus 6 synth:

"I produce simple EDM myself and this bank reflects my taste. The sounds consist mostly of fast and aggressive bass and leads, some tempo synced sounds and even some pads and fx. It's mostly simple stuff so don't expect anything groundbreaking Smile

A word of warning for people with older computers is that I used unison mode quite heavily when making these presets. So don't look all that surprised if your computer can't handle it. N6 is quite a CPU intensive synth compared to some others. You have been warned! "

Waveformless Soundware Releases "Expanse" Soundset for Arturia SEM-V

I'm happy to announce my fifth soundset release with Waveformless Soundware, this time for Arturia's Oberheim SEM-V software synthesizer.  I personally think this is the best-sounding instrument Arturia has made.  It sounds uncannily alive and unmistakably analog.  You'll find lots of those types of sounds here... punchy basses, cutting leads, silky pads... but you'll also find sounds you'd never expect to get out of the SEM-V... "physically modeled" metallic koto, crisp, almost digital arpeggios, complex, almost modular-sounding evolving patches.  This is a soundset that truly lives up to its name demonstrating the full expanse of sounds possible with Arturia's awesome recreation of the Oberheim classic.  But don't take my word for it.  Listen to the demos below, and go grab 10 absolutely free demo patches here.

128 killer sounds for the ridiculous price of only $9.99 available from purchase right here.

Re-Upload of the Waveformless Massive Patches

So I got a couple messages regarding the mini-set of free patches I made for Native Instruments Massive.  It seems DivShare occasionally just likes to lose files, and the old link wasn't working.  And somehow, I'd seemed to have lost the files on my end.  Thankfully, Waveformless reader Joel had them on hand and got them to me.  Thanks, Joel!

Free Patches for Synapse Audio's DUNE

Waveformless reader Joel is back to share another set of free patches with us, this time for Synapse Audio's excellent DUNE (which I reviewed here). Thanks, Joel!

Incidentally, Synapse just released a new version of DUNE (1.2) which include an additional 100 patches and the following:

"
  • Improved VCO quality for the classic sawtooth and square oscillators, giving an even more transparent, analog sound.
  • Modulation and Pitch bend wheel now respond more smoothly.
  • Engine system introduced, which guarantees that any project made with any version of Dune always sounds the same, regardless of installed upgrades.
  • The engine version currently in use is displayed when clicking on the DUNE logo. Open a new instance of Dune to start with the current, latest engine.
  • Modulation Matrix has row numbers now.
  • Pitch Bend Up/Down wasn't visually updated in some hosts when loading a project, fixed.
  • [Windows] In Cubase 5 64-bit, Dune could crash during initialization- fixed.
  • [Mac OS X] The Audio Unit now uses 20-30% less CPU than previously.
  • [Mac OS X] Modulation matrix destination menus have better and more logical ordering."

Per Request: FM8 Patches from Last Free Sample Friday

This past Friday, I posted some samples of a resonant, metallic synth sound I made in Native Instruments FM8. A reader asked if I would post the actual FM8 patch, and I thought, "hey, why not?" As you can hear, the actual patch is a lot more lively and fun to play than the sample. 2 variations are included.
