Free Sample Friday: Korg MS-20 Noyzlead
Okay, not a real MS-20, but Korg's excellent Legacy MS-20 softsynth. A lot of people claim the plug-in sounds nothing like the real thing and I think that's a bit unfair. While it's true that there is a certain pleasant instability to the real deal, I think the plug-in let's you get pretty close at times, and especially captures the weird character of the MS-20's filter and feedback distortion (when you plug the output back into the input). With that in mind, here is one of my favorite patches I have programmed in the Legacy plug-in. I rarely re-use sounds, but I've used this one on my tracks "Decades" (2007) and "Grind" (2009), as well as On It Assemblage 23 Mix I did for Mindless Self Indulgence.
At any rate, here are is the sound as multi sampled on every 'C' and 'G' for several octaves. Format is 24-bit/44.1k WAV. Root key is in the name. These samples are looped, but if you need to do it yourself, they should be extraordinarily easy to loop.
GO GET THEM!
PS - I've also added a 'Free Sample Friday' tag and will go back and mark all the other FSF entries with it so you can make sure you have all the samples I've uploaded to Waveformless should you want them all.. I'll try to do it in the next couple of days.
