New Music Express has a short blurb on the as of yet untitled Depeche Mode album, to be released on Columbia records in March. Says Mr. Gore: "I am very happy with how the album turned out. The music has a similar vibe to 'Violator' and 'Songs of Faith and Devotion' and I think there are a few songs on the album that are among some of the very best we've done."
But then, an artist WOULD say that, wouldn't they? I look forward to checking it out. Although I don't think the band has ever been the same without Alan Wilder, they usually delver at least a few solid songs per album still.

I think Alan contributed more to the Depeche Mode sound than anyone - it just isn't the same without him.
Wasn't that last turd of an album supposed to be the one that "returned to their electronic roots? We all know how that turned out...
Leave the modular drones and soundscapes alone already, laid over distorted drums and poorly written lyrics.
I say this because it hurts when something you love so much disappoints you again and again, when you know they could do better.
Whenever a band says "this is our best work ever!", it never fails to disappoint me.
There's always at least a 1% chance but....you know...
