Depends on the licensing agreement that was included in the original purchase. Newer equipment often has a clause that states as much in the manual. Older gear is not so well protected.
Sampling sound from equipment produced 20 years ago by a bankrupt company which is currently owned by the same incorporation that produces the MPC 5000 and the turntables from which to sample to said MPC...I'm thinking ok.
