Modified Korg DW-6000

Via Synthasy on YouTube.

The Korg DW-6000 was supposed to be my first synth. I was in 7th or 8th grade when it came out, and spent a couple summers mowing lawns to try and save up enough money to get one. As luck would have it, just as I had earned enough to buy it, it was discontinued and replaced with the more expensive DW-8000. I was pretty sad about it, but ended up with a second hand Poly-800, which was certainly a decent enough synth to learn about sound programming on. Anyway, here's a video of a guy who modified his DW-6000 to have a vastly expanded waveform selection...

Oddly enough I just came across a DW6000 last night in a pawn shop in Redmond (sandwitched between an Emu EMAX 2 and a DX7II). Your Rosebud awaits you Charles Foster Kane.

HAHA Poly-800 eh? I wanted the 8000. Was a bit older than you though, so I was working at the movie theater while in HS.

Ended up buying a Juno 60 2nd hand. Had it until a few years ago. Power supply died so I gave it to a buddy of mine, who replaced said power supply and sold it on ebay for 3x what I paid for it. Was a pretty decent synth except for it being non-midi...

Oddly enough, I grabbed a dw8000 off ebay from a local seller for $75 or something about a year ago. Two of the keys were "broken", which is probably why it went so cheap, also I believe it was local pickup only. So I lucked out, and simply snapped the two keys back into place. Works perfect. I've read about mods for both of these old korgs, but haven't been able to track down any to buy.

Cool. Care to share any more info on the mod? Was this something you came up with yourself?

Strellis stop spamming your make believe mod. Real mods usually come with actual how to info that back up the modders claims.
