Korg Releases iPolysix fo iPad

Korg has released an iPad version of their heralded Polysix emulation called iPolysix.  As you might expect, this version includes some goodies not found on the original to turn it into more of a self-contained production environment.  The iPolysix set-up includes two Polysix instances, a sequencer to drive them, a drum machine, and a mixer.  This app is available for the introductory price of $14.95 until the end of the year when the price will double.

Korg does have enough ressources to develop (again) for the iPad, while leaving the customers who have paid much more money for the standard Mac plugins without a 64-bit version.

I really don't get why people are so obsessed with going 64-bit. Are there that many of you out there using giant sample libraries that need that kind of memory addressing?

Thanks for asking. Yes, a lot of musicians who are e.g. in the soundtrack / scoring business need 64-bit exactly for the reason you have mentioned: Large sample libraries. Of course Korg plugins don´t use extensive libraries, but since the sequencer is running in 64-bit, all 32-bit plugins must run via a bridge in order to be usable. This takes up unnecessary processing power, is often unstable and only a workaround which may vanish in future versions of Logic (and other 64-bit DAWs). Personally, I am sick and tired of Korg telling me that they have no intention of moving to 64-bit (original answer from dev team: "We do not see any benefit"). This is great customer support - not. And I ask myself why they still try to get people into buying their plugins via Facebook etc.?

A friend of mine got a response from the Korg Dev team last week that the 64 bit versions should be here by year's end.

Tom, the 64 bit bridges have shown a tendency to crash, and Apple doesn't usually keep backward support for long on technologies once they move on. Mountain Lion is 64 bit, so the clock is ticking.
