The Source of Godzilla's Iconic Scream
Music of Sound just posted a link to a cool article on the Criterion website containing some interesting facts about the classic Japanese "Godzilla" movies. Among these tidbits is the source of Godzilla's famous scream:"Godzilla’s sonic-iconic roar was conceived by composer Akira Ifukube, who realized that a manipulated recording of a leather glove rubbing a loosened contrabass string would provide a perfectly monstrous tone."
