Chris - I wondered if it might not be rarer than the 3000 claim because you really don't see these popping up all that often.
Of course, it could have been the case that 10,000 were made and they were so unreliable that only 100 are currently in working order. Take a look at the serial number ranges in the instrument registry on my Chroma site.
